Trailer

  • The trailer is a common gooseneck design, 20 ft metal deck with two axles (double tandems) that can be towed with a standard pick-up style truck that has a GCVW tow rating of approximately 20,000 lbs. (example; Ford F350, F450 and F550 or Dodge 3500, 4500 and 5500). The NO-DES trailer system only weighs approximately 18,000 lbs (dry) and just over 20,000 lbs. (wet). The trailer has common electrically actuated brakes on both axles.

  • Maximum gross weight (GVWR) of the trailer unit is rated at 24,000 lbs (CDL is required).

  • A power inverter is installed on the trailer to power the turbidity meters, the flow meter and the chlorinator systems.

  • Emergency lighting is now standard.

  • Electric/hydraulic landing gear is now standard.

  • Custom filter storage box mounted on gooseneck is optional (but recommended).

  • I highly recommend the awning for your crews’ comfort; and safety towards sampling!

Pump

  • The main water circulation pump is comprised of a Grundfos pump unit that can operate at up to approximately 100 gpm to 1,700 gpm (based on the size of main, distance between hydrants/blow-offs and filter loadings). This equates to being able to flush approximately a maximum of 14" diameter water mains at 3 ft/sec velocities, and 12" mains at 5 ft/sec velocities.

  • The pump is powered by a 4-cylinder (water cooled) Cummins diesel engine. The power package includes a manual clutch drive PTO, Murphy Shutdown panel, and 12-volt battery with cables. The entire package is mounted on a base plate which also contains the 20-gallon fuel tank and battery. The pump and driver are connected through a flexible, electrometric coupling, and covered in an OSHA guard.

  • The filter system has a standard 6” by-pass valve & manifold system that allows the operator to by-pass either filter vessel when it becomes loaded; this can be accomplished during a flushing run without shutting down, which reduces mid-flush shut-downs. The by-pass also can increase the flow, if desired when flushing larger mains.

  • 6" bar strainer installed at inlet.

  • Control panel installed on the curb side of the bed for safety.

This NO-DES Trailer unit has two 200 psi 12 Bag stainless steel filter housings manufactured by Fil-Trek.

The first filter housing utilizes 12 disposable filter bags that filters out particulates down to 1 micron absolute. Approximate service life is of the filter bags is estimated to be one flush to three weeks, depending on customer usage, condition of customer’s distribution system and field conditions. The stainless-steel filter housings have a flow capability to filter approximately 2200+ gpm each, and a maximum pressure of 200 psig.  Filter bag change out is at 15 to 20 psig differential head pressures.

The second filter housing is a back-up filter utilizing an additional 12 disposable filter bags, capable of filtering out particulates down to 1.0 micron absolute.

  • The NO-DES Trailer Unit comes with 1,300 feet of 5-inch collapsible approved water transfer hose and fittings, with most of the hose in 100 feet lengths; and 200 feet of 2-1/2-inch hose for flushing smaller mains, water meter testing and other tasks that do not require the larger hose. All hoses are rated for 300 psig operation and have safety caps installed at all ends.

  • The hoses are rolled up on three large hydraulic reels designed to save time during the roll-out and roll-up process.

  • Two sets of hose ramps are supplied for traffic use.

  • The hose reels are attached to and powered by a small forklift that piggy backs onto the back of the trailer.  The forklift is a Burro model from the Quality Corporation out of Denver Co, which can lift 3,000 lbs. (max).  The Burro model weighs approx 1,500 lbs.  The Burro is powered by a 13 HP Honda gasoline engine and utilizes hydraulics which also powers the reels.  The top speed for the Burro is 3 mph and is a walk-behind model.  The Burro is equipped with an orange emergency strobe plus forward and back facing lighting for night operations.

  • A power inverter is installed on the trailer to power the turbidity meters, the flow meter and the disinfection systems.

  • There are two automatic air relief valves, one on each filter vessel.

  • There is one 2” Cla-Val pressure relief valve set at 200 psi.

  • There is a 6" SS one-way check valve installed on outlet piping manifold.

  • Four (4) 6” aluminum ells are included (90 degrees).

  • There is one (1) 6” aluminum Air relief hose adapter included - 5” x 5” Storz coupling with a ¼” port for inline hose air relief.

  • Two 4-1/2” hydrant thread by 5” Storz adapters are included.

  • Two hydrant wrenches and two Storz wrenches are included.

  • Two sets of 2-1/2” to 5” Storz hydrant adapters systems included.

  • Two 2-1/2” to 5” Storz “Y” hydrant adapters systems are included to connect the 5” hose to hydrants with only two 2-1/2” ports.

  • There are two test taps located in front of the control center – one prior to the inlet, and one after last filter or outlet.

  • The trailer bed will have a ladder and railings for operator safety.

Control Panel Specifications

  • There is a flow meter with a remote read display for attaining exact flow information, and a Totalizer for tracking use.

  • There are remote engine controls inside the engine control box.

  • Two HACH turbidity meters are standard (inside the control panel).  One turbidity meter for testing inlet water that is prior to the pump (at the inlet) and one turbidity meter is for testing the outlet water of the polishing filter.

  • Disinfection equipment included - Provides for the addition of disinfectants as determined by the Buyer

  • Two pressure gauges are located on the control panel to aid in filter system operation monitoring and control.
