Flushing Crew Operator Assistant w/CDL
​Job Summary
​

Operates the NO-DES Water Main (hydrant) flushing equipment.
-
Maintains and repairs equipment as needed.
-
Operates Burro forklift to offload equipment from truck.
-
Interstate driving using NO-DES rigs, with the ability to tow trailers over 30,000 lbs. to job sites locally and all across the United States.
-
Extensive time away from home when assigned to jobs out of state.
-
Work closely with customers to exceed expectations.
General Accountabilities
​
Regular attendance is an essential function of this position. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
-
Drive rigs and tow trailers both Inter- and Intra- state. Operates a NO-DES Flushing System, truck mounted burro forklift with hydraulic reels and other similar equipment as part of a team.

Performs basic maintenance and minor repairs on the NO-DES Flushing System, burro forklift and/or other equipment.

Locates fire hydrants, valves and underground services before setup, operation, and tear down of flushing system.

Monitors operations to ensure all health and safety standards are met.

Loads and moves fire hose, filters, and/or other equipment.
-
Drives rigs and trailers Inter- and Intra- state.
-
Maneuvers equipment on customer specified sites.
-
Rolls and unrolls hose to hook up to hydrants or other ports as needed. Changes out filter bags from filter housings as needed.

Coordinates machine's actions and/or activities for flushing hydrants in response to hand or audio signals from crew members.

Monitor chlorine levels; adjust chemical pumps for optimum treatment process; clean maintain and monitor chemical injection ports, recalibrate; performs drinking water testing and analysis.

Monitor and record data for record keeping.

Minimum Job Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent
-
Experience: Some related experience preferred; Some related maintenance experience in a water distribution or treatment system operation preferred, ability to operate a forklift highly desirable.

Licenses/Certifications: Class A commercial driver's license with the ability to tow over 30,000 lbs. mandatory.

Specialized Skills/Requirements
​
Candidates who are selected for appointment may be fingerprinted, if 18 or older; successfully complete a background investigation, employment verification and may be subject to a drug/alcohol test, medical, and/or psychological evaluation. Candidates who are appointed will be required to possess a valid driver’s license to operate a vehicle in the United States of America or meet the transportation needs of the position.

Within one (1) year of appointment must obtain and possess (NO-DES provides training and testing):

NO-DES Operation & Burro Truck Carried Forklift Operator Safety Training Certificate

OSHA Certification (NO-DES will provide training)

Working with various nonhazardous chemicals used in water sampling and treatment.

Work Environment
​

This position involves traveling to customer job sites across the United States. Jobs could last for extended periods (weeks or months) away from home.
-
Majority of work to be performed outdoors. Work includes walking, operation of a vehicle and related equipment in street environments. Requires moderate exertion and lifting carrying objects between 50 and 100 pounds, repeated bending, climbing, stooping, and reaching above the head daily.

Performs maintenance functions requiring visual and manual dexterity, precision measurements and continuous repetitive arm, hand and eye movements.
-
May be required to work overtime or extended hours during emergency conditions.
